The ingredient of Vegan Mulligatawny Soup

  1. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  2. 1 onion medium, diced
  3. 3 garlic cloves minced
  4. 1/2 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  5. 1 tablespoon turmeric
  6. 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  7. 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  8. 2 teaspoons chili powder *see note above on heat levels
  9. 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  10. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  11. 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  12. 8 cups vegetable broth
  13. 1 pound yellow split peas dried
  14. 1 cup diced tomatoes about 2 small or 1 large tomatoes
  15. 1 tablespoon Asian chili paste *again, see note above
  16. 1 lemon
  17. 6 cups veggies fresh, your choice **see my other note above - I used broccoli, snap peas and carrots
  18. 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
